Terms of Service

You must be at least 16 years old to use CaseTree. By using the service, you confirm you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.

CaseTree turns a case-interview prompt into an AI-generated MECE issue tree, with coaching scores, follow-up questions, and an interactive Practice Mode drill. It also includes a community forum (Case Garden) and a practice-partner matching feature (Find a Case Partner) that connects you with other candidates. Features and limits differ between the free Seedling plan and the paid Eden subscription; current plan details are shown in the app.

You need an account to save trees, post to the forum, or use partner matching. You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (Clerk) — we never see or store your password.

Eden is a paid subscription billed weekly or monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel or switch billing intervals at any time from Settings → Subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep Eden access until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods. We never store your full card details — Stripe handles that directly.

The Seedling plan is limited to a fixed number of tree generations per day and one active practice-partner request at a time, enforced automatically. We may change these limits, or which features require Eden, at any time.

You agree not to:

• Submit case content that is illegal, infringing, or contains someone else's confidential or personal information without permission;
• Use CaseTree to generate or post harassing, hateful, or abusive content, on the forum or toward a practice partner;
• Attempt to circumvent plan limits, scrape the service, or reverse-engineer the AI prompts;
• Use another person's account, or misrepresent your identity or experience level in partner matching;
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

You keep ownership of the case prompts, forum posts, and comments you submit ("Your Content"). By submitting it, you grant CaseTree a license to store, process, and display it as needed to operate the service — including sending case text to our AI provider to generate your tree, and showing forum posts to other users. You're responsible for having the rights to whatever you submit.

Issue trees, coaching scores, follow-up questions, and Practice Mode feedback are generated by an AI model and are provided for practice purposes only. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or reflect a framework a real interviewer wouldn't use. CaseTree is a preparation tool, not a guarantee of interview performance, offer outcomes, or professional coaching advice — use your own judgment.

Find a Case Partner connects you with other users for mutual interview practice, based on profile details you choose to share (display name, timezone, experience level, target firms). We don't vet other users. Any meeting time or link you arrange with a partner is between you and that user — CaseTree isn't a party to it and isn't responsible for another user's conduct, no-shows, or the content of your practice session. Use normal caution when meeting or speaking with someone you matched with.

CaseTree, its branding, and its underlying software are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks or code beyond what's needed to use the service normally.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account, which permanently removes your trees, forum posts, and partner-matching history. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, including a pending Eden subscription being cancelled through Stripe rather than refunded.

CaseTree is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CaseTree won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including reliance on AI-generated content or interactions with a practice partner. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operation of the service, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above; continuing to use CaseTree after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
